We returned to Bald Rock for the first time since fire swept through there in February 2019. At lower elevations the eucalypts were getting lots of new foliage. However, the summit was noticeably different. Before the fire most of the summit was covered in low trees and high shrubs. Now it is “balder” with only low vegetation remaining. Another striking difference is the large number of grey nomads now walking up the rock as well as staying in the caravan park in Tenterfield.
